The Municipality of Kucove is part of Berat County and it is located in the south-west part of Albania. After the territorial reform last year, Kucove now manages an area of 160.22 square kilometers, which incorporates the administrative units of Lumas, Perondi and Kozare. Kucove borders the municipalities of Lushnje, Belsh, Cerrik, Gramsh, Berat and Ura-Vajgurore. With a population of 55,170 inhabitants, Kucove has one of the highest densities in the region of central Albania. About 80% of the population is located in the town of Kucove and in the administrative unit of Perondi. There are thirty-one villages and one town within the municipality.
It covers a territory rich in natural resources on the rivers Osum and Devoll. Kucova territory has many historical monuments and buildings, the Evangelist Church built in XIII century and the Church of ST. Nicolas built in XII century. The citizens of Kucova have 3 main religions: Muslims 70%, Orthodox 25% and Catholics 5 %. The old cultural tradions and customs have shaped the main characteristic of the community like tolerance, hospitality, admire beautiful arts and embrace innovative ideas
Kucove is known for its petroleum reserves and the industries that support the extraction and processing of the oil. The administrative units of Kozare and Perondi have fertile agricultural land and cultivate large amounts of grain, corn and vegetables. Lumas area has the potential to increase their production of fruit and livestock farming.
