Municipality of Tran is located in the north western Bulgaria in the District of Pernik. The municipality consists of 52 settlements and according to the last census the population is 4846 people. The municipalities have the potential to become an interesting tourist destination because of its rich cultural and historical heritage and beautiful nature. Municipality of Tran has extensive experience in the territorial cooperation. Over the past three years, together with different institutions from the Republic of Serbia were implemented four projects funded under the Cross Border Cooperation Programme under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance Bulgaria - Serbia. One of the projects for territorial cooperation, which is implemented by the Municipality of Tran is “The Unknown Bulgaria – The Discovery ”Western Outlands”, financed by Operational Programme “Regional Development” 2007-2013.
