Descrizione:
Apecchio (above 2000 inhabitants) is located in the Marche region, in Central Italy, on the Apennines bordering with Umbria. With its total area of nearly 106 Km2 it is  the 7thmunicipality for  dimension in the Province of Pesaro and Urbino. Its territory is characterized by a morphology of mid-mountain and its highest peak is Monte Nerone, 1526 metres above sea level. The landscape is really diverse: rich in watercourses, sulphurous springs, hills and valleys filled with  woods and green meadows.  Thanks  to its position-between Monte Nerone and the ridge of  Italy’s spine , the Apennines -  Apecchio enjoys a favourable microclimate  with pleasantly mild temperatures and cool nights in  the summer  and snowfalls in winter. A ski lift leading to the ski slope and the Mountain Lodge Corsini operates in Monte Nerone and it is the main attraction of our winter tourism.  Trails are accessible in every season; hiking or riding a  mountain bike or even with snowshoes when the tracks are covered by snow. The history of the village  is rich;  being an important historical boundary point between the Duchy  of Montefeltro (Urbino), the Grand Duchy of Tuscany ( Firenze) and the Papal State (Roma). The architecture of the village retains much of its medieval past and the undercroft of Palazzo Ubaldini   hosts a Museum of Paleontology which includes a rich and interesting  collection of animal and vegetable fossils from Monte Nerone. Apecchio has  different kinds of accommodation facilities such as hotels, B&B and holiday farms  and the Tourist  Office organizes activities and events to promote our cultural, historical, natural and environmental heritage as well as  food and wine/beer  itinerary. The local economy is mostly based on its territory through the exploitation of forests, artisanship, tourism and the commercialization of Apecchio’s renowned white truffle. In the last few years the development of a new business has successfully emerged with the production of artisan beer. At present three high quality breweries are based in our municipality.  The best products of our territory are on display during the annual “Truffle and Mushroom Fair“ which is usually held on the first weekend  of October.
