“Scuola di Folklore Internazionale Val d'Akragas - Cultura Popolare di Sicilia” is a cultural no-profit association based in Agrigento (Italy) and founded in 1937. Scuola di Folklore Internazionale Val d'Akragas is deeply involved in promoting and spreading sicilian traditional music and dance both at international and european level. The group, composed of more than 70 artists (most of them young artists), has been invited to perform at various prestigious international festivals. In 2004 it participates as partner at European Dance Caravan project. The artistic project promoted by the EU Culture programme acted like an imaginary caravan travelling around Europe’s great festivals with huge success and taking the best of traditional music and dance from eight European nations. Scuola di Folklore Internazionale Val d’Akragas would participate as partner in any project connected with the promotion of the folklore heritage at european level and the involvement of young people in dance and music performance and folklore traditions.
