Rieti is a town with 47,927 inhabitants, surrounded by nature. Its main key activities are: agriculture, construction and electronic industry. Rieti Municipality (RM) has started a challenging path for the “internationalisation” of the city and its opening to Europe. It opened a “Europe Office” to promote EU policies and established a “Twinning Committee” made up by citizens, administrators, employees. It encourages administration sectors to strengthen their relations with other countries, and it is active in the planning of projects that foster European relations in specific sectors (Erasmus+, URBACT, ect.). RM is twinned with Nordhron (DE), ITO (JP), Saint-Pierre Les Elbeuf (FR). It is also partner of the following international and national networks: Mayors for peace; Smart City national observatory; CIVITER Interregional Agreement for urban development; Development Plan for  economic revitalization of  the Terminillo mountain. Programme Agreement for the revitalization of manufactoring area with Lazio Region and Ministry of Economy; Project Agreement to regenerate an ex-industrial area with MPS Bank.
