The San Pio V’s Institute of Political Studies, S.Pio V, founded in Rome in 1972 has, among it's aims “the promotion and encouragement, in Italy and abroad, of Studies in Economics and in the Humanities, with particular emphasis on the political, linguistic and other problems in modern society”.
For many years, the Institute of Political Studies of St. Pio V, has been engaged in studies in the humanities.
The Scientific work of the Institute is sub- divided into three areas of research. Political History; Legal and Economic Studies; Social, Humanistic and Linguistic Studies.

These three research groupings, each in its own way, coordinate research projects, the aim of which is to bring important issues of a scientific and socio-political nature to the center of cultural debate.

The end result of the research is published in essays that explore and examine a broad range of topics including, human rights, socio-economic problems both European and International World-Wide

The Institute produces monographs and also publishes Rivista di Studi Politici, a quarterly journal, which pays attention to political and cultural matters.

The Institute also organizes conferences and seminars at which the results of the research can be presented. These conferences and seminars give the opportunity for discussion and debate on the various topics being examined.

Since it's foundation the Institute has placed great importance on the training of young researchers, giving them much practice and involvement in research methodology throughout the three years in which they study for a degree in their chosen scientific field.

Also, from the very beginning, there has been strong collaborative activities between the Institute and other organizations and Institutes both in Italy and abroad.
